I was born and raised in the small west Texas town of Crane. I was a member of 4-H and, senior year, served as the student body president. I entered Texas A&M in 1973 and in 1980 graduated from the college of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, I practiced in Longview, Texas and Warren, Ohio. Since 1984 however, I have been living and working in the Dallas Metroplex. I have three sons and three mixed breed rescued dogs, which at times can be difficult to distinguish. My favorite part of practice is soft tissue surgery and, in particular, reconstructive surgery. Currently, I have served as a medical director of VCA Sandy Lake Animal Hospital since September 2006.

Becoming a veterinarian has been a dream for me ever since my childhood veterinarian saved the family dog, Rumple. After graduating high school from Ursuline Academy in Dallas, TX, I attended college at Texas A&M University and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2008. I returned to the DFW metroplex to pursue a career in small animal medicine at VCA Sandy Lake Animal Hospital. I take great pride in providing high quality and compassionate care for my patients. It is important to me that you and your pet have a positive experience, even if I have to pull out the dreaded needle. From wellness exams to broken bones or even complicated medical cases, I will enjoy giving you and your furry kids the best medical care we can provide. When I am not at the hospital, I enjoy riding my horse, playing with my pets, photography, digital painting, carpentry, and watching funny movies.

I was born and raised in South Louisiana in a small town called St. James. I am known to all as Our Little Cajun. Ever since grade school, I have dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. When I graduated from high school, I attended undergrad at Louisiana State University and, while working towards my Animal Science Degree, I was accepted into LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation in 1995, I moved to Dallas, Texas. I was employed at two all-feline hospitals for 7 years before joining the team at VCA Sandy Lake Animal Hospital in May 2003. I have been married for 17 years to a veterinarian classmate, Lon Hays, DVM. I have two 2-legged humans named Abigail Marie and Natalie Mae. I also have three 4-legged animals, Pearl, Mojo, and Butta. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my children and cooking Cajun cuisine. My specialty is Feline Medicine.
